Datavideo ZEK-2 Zoom Encoder Kit

The Datavideo ZEK-2 is a zoom encoder kit designed to transform compatible Panasonic Lumix cinema cameras into fully controllable robotic PTZ-style camera systems when used with the Datavideo PTR-10 MARK II or PTR-10T MARK II robotic pan-tilt head. The kit provides a practical solution for productions that require remote zoom control and preset recall while using Micro Four Thirds camera systems.

Designed for use with the Panasonic Lumix BGH1 and a Tilta Nucleus-M motor, the ZEK-2 enables automatic zoom positioning and remote zoom operation. By integrating the zoom function into the robotic camera workflow, operators gain access to pan, tilt, and zoom control from a central controller, creating a more versatile and efficient production environment.

The system works alongside the PTR-10 MARK II series, which can already control focus and iris functions through the standard LanC protocol. With the addition of the ZEK-2 and Tilta Nucleus-M motor, zoom control is also incorporated into the workflow, allowing operators to remotely adjust lens position and recall previously stored zoom settings.

The ZEK-2 includes the mounting components and accessories required to install and operate the Tilta Nucleus-M motor with the robotic pan-tilt system. Included components consist of the M0.8 gear ring belt, mounting bar holder, tilt control cable, and D-Tap power breakout cable used to power and control both the motor and camera system.

When combined with the RMC-180 MARK II controller, users can store and recall preset pan, tilt, and zoom positions for repeatable camera movements and framing. This capability helps streamline live productions, corporate events, education environments, houses of worship, and studio applications where precise camera positioning is required.

By extending robotic control to manual zoom lenses, the Datavideo ZEK-2 provides an effective way to convert compatible Micro Four Thirds camera systems into remotely operated PTZ-style production cameras while maintaining the image quality and flexibility of a professional cinema camera workflow.
